Unigen, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of industrial and enterprise grade OEM products, today announced the launch of multiple new boot drive SSD families designed to meet the needs of embedded platforms, long-tail infrastructure, and network appliance deployments. The newly introduced drives (Bobtail, Lahitkaya, Qbatta, Wasp, and Hornet) deliver reliable performance, extended lifecycle support, and compatibility with proven standards.
Each product family targets a specific form factor and use case, helping OEMs, integrators, and system designers extend the lifespan of trusted platforms without sacrificing performance or energy efficiency.
Bobtail (M.2 2242 NVMe SSD)

The Bobtail offers amazing speed with next-level 3D TLC NAND (240GB – 1.92TB) and a PCIe® Gen4.0, NVMe™ 1.4 controller that unlocks sequential read/write speeds of up to 4980/4645 MB/s. Its compact, single-sided DRAMless design offers speeds up to 10X faster than traditional SATA SSDs.
Built to handle demanding workloads, the 2TB model offers up to 1200TBW of endurance, which provides lasting performance and generous storage for your applications, games, and data.
Lahitkaya (M.2 2280 SATA III SSD)

Powered by the SMI SM2259 controller, the Unigen Lahitkaya M.2 SSD is ideal for energy efficient computing, reducing access times, and also provides a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance. The proprietary space manager architecture improves performance by eliminating firmware bottlenecks during read/write operations.
Qbatta (M.2 2280 SATA III SSD)

Engineered for efficiency and durability, the Unigen Qbatta M.2 2280 SSD is powered by the SMI SM2259 controller, delivering faster access times and superior shock resistance compared to traditional hard drives. Its proprietary space manager architecture optimizes read/write speeds by eliminating firmware delays, ensuring seamless data transfers between the host and flash memory. The advanced SMI SM2259 flash processor, combined with custom firmware, enables full ATA disk emulation for broad compatibility across various operating systems.
Wasp (M.2 2242 SATA III SSD)

The Unigen Wasp SSD is built for energy-efficient computing, delivering reliable performance in a compact M.2 2242 form factor. With storage capacities from 64GB to 128GB, it’s well-suited for systems where Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is a key consideration. The drive supports 3D TLC and iTLC flash, offers Power Loss Protection (PLP), and is engineered for rugged performance. It operates with a maximum power draw of 3.7W and idle power consumption under 1.1W. Security features include Secure Boot and TCG Opal support.
Hornet (mSATA MO-300 SSD)

The Unigen Hornet SSD features a case-less design ideal for ultra-compact, embedded environments. With advanced power management schemes, Hornet consumes less than 1 Watt in idle mode, which makes it perfect for portable and embedded use where space and efficiency are critical. Its dimensions result in an effective volume that is twenty times less than an enclosed 3.5” hard drive, and 10x less than a 2.5” solid state drive.
